Greetings my Mundo people, Saturdays show was so smooth. I started with Sri Lankan/London bred sista M.I.A. While others were boppin' their heads to "paper planes," I was swayin to her hit, "Bamboo Banga."

Then I brought in music from Cape Verde (Cesaria Evora), and acoustic guitar laced with French lyrics by Les Escrocs. An amazing mellow Saturday night! Oh by the way, here's the playlist:

This Satruday on the Mundo Lounge the playlist is all about live music! Festivals, concerts, acoustic, studio sessions!

Some say live music sounds much better than pre-produced product and I have to agree. There's something about live music that gives you high energy and its RAW and definitely REAL.

So, Saturday night, 11pm, i'll air some live performances. From albums, personal recordings, or if any of you have any live shows in mind let me know and I might air it!

Matisyahu, Shakira, and Zuco 103 are just a few of the artists I will feature. Outy!

What is "World Music?"

What is "World Music?" Most think its African tribal music, or any and only indigenous sounds of the world. Yes, whats indigenous is at the root of all music, because there has to be a beginning, but it reaches far beyond grass skirts and a village. What the Mundo(world) Lounge is sharing is The Global Sound. The idea that every society brings something unique to World culture. Every ear, hears something different and every soul inspires something new.

As im writing im listening to this duo Mambotur, and their bringing to the table a sound called Latinotronic. Hows that for new? It blends latin music with electronica and over synthesized beats. Im lovin' it.

Another question: What is lounge? or What is a lounge? To lounge? Lounging?
According to Webster (Merriam-Webster dictionary) Lounge is a verb & noun. To Lounge means to act or move idly or lazily
A lounge is a place for lounging: as a: a room in a private home or public building for leisure activities: a long chair

Now what is Lounge Music? I've been to many lounges (noun) in the city and have heard an array of music. Hip Hop, world beats, 80's industrial and the list goes on. Apparently a lounge plays any kind of music or none at all. The purpose is to have leisure activity, enjoyng atmosphere, while listening to sound in an idle mood or position. Later in your experience this act of Lounging creates a feeling that you can continually identify with, no matter the medium.

What is the Mundo(world) Lounge? It's a new realm of feeling, of being, of enjoyment. In the realm of the World Lounge, you listen to World music. Rhythms beyond whats "popular" and "mainstream." Music of and in the world. A Global Sound.

In case you missed any events in Miami during Winter Music Conference, I will be posting some tidbits here. The Mundo Lounge is coming along well and the content is amazing. So. be sure to tune in Satrudays at 11pm starting in mid-may.

For those that don't know, Winter Music Conference is a Dance music conference, catered mostly to DJ's and dance music enthusiasts. The week days are filled with sessions, panels and workshops, with the industry's leading dance music artists, DJ's, broadcasters, media
and others. At night, the streets are fillled with people ready to party and check out the evenings events.

Need a gig? GigCreator LLC was "created" to do just that. It was designed to get you some work at events and parties in order to get your name on the map. Also those looking for talent can go to the database to find talent. I met the ceo, Douglas Ruffin at GiGCreator's VIP Reality Remix at WMC last week.
